style

usually, at any point in my life, i have a style.
right now, it's silhouettes of cartoon-style birds, flowers, leaves, etc. i ordered new stationery with simple flower designs on it. i doodle little flower designs on my papers. i set a new background to this blog. my computer wallpaper is a flower pattern, and i'm going to make bird labels for organized drawers.
the design makes me happy. it's simple, bright, and makes me feel relaxed.
do you have a special style?

little bluebird

my favorite animal is a bluebird.
it's not a bird i'm around much. most people would think my favorite animal would be a rat, or an owl, or a snake. but i like the little bluebird, who is cheerful. and i feel cheerful, too.

the x-mas haul

this year's christmas presents were so amazing! thanks to my mom and dad and both sets of grandparents (and don't forget santa who brought me a dalek!), i'm now the proud owner of a 10th-doctor sonic screwdriver, a talking dalek, cyberman, and tardis, 4 fashion scarves, tootsie rolls, a rainbow loom (omygosh they are the thing among the girls at school) with extra loom bands, hershey bar bodywash, hershey kisses, this really adorable christmas hello kitty stuffy, a purple set of owl-themed hat and fingerless-gloves-that-convert-into-mittens, the biggest chocolate nutcracker i have ever seen, christmas erasers, candy cane tasty things (i have no idea what they are) and some random cool books 'n' stuff.
that was a really long sentence. whew.

twas the night before christmas

ok. tonight is the time where santa claus, this round old man in a red-and-white outfit, will ride in his sleigh pulled by eight reindeer. he will supposedly deliver nice gifts to good children, like pet adipose or ood, and deliver bad presents to bad children, like weeping angels or daleks. however, i'd love a dalek as a pet. hey, santa! i know i'm a 'good' child, but can i please have a dalek for christmas? please?
oh, never mind. it never works.
clatter
maybe that's my dalek! here, dalek!
exterminate!

yo-yo

i am learning how to yo-yo!
at first the yo-yo spun around and didn't even come back up, but with practice, i finally got it.
here's some tips:
1. find a yo-yo with a comfortable grip, a large body, and a long string -  small, cheap ones are awful.
2. get used to winding up the string - most of your practice will be taken up by this.
3. be patient.
this will help just about anyone. once you get it, it's easy!
~ di
p. s. write a comment telling me that you can yo-yo and i'll give you a yo-yo certificate of achievement!

lucky

official rules for lucky objects are here!
  • all buttons with 2 or 4 holes, and are also round, are lucky.
  • the exception for rule #1 is orange buttons.
  • red buttons with 4 holes are ranked 'most lucky overall.'
  • buttons with brand names are not lucky by themselves, but are lucky when strung together in a button chain.
  • polished stones are lucky.
  • buttons with 1 hole are not lucky.
  • buttons not used in sewing are unlucky.
  • buttons that are not round are extremely unlucky.
  • green, fresh, oval-shaped leaves are lucky.
  • small stuffed key chain objects are lucky, if you can remove the hook they are luckier.
  • if something is labeled 'lucky,' that object is lucky.
  • cute and small pets are lucky - i.e. teacup poodles, teacup bunnies, little chicks, baby mice, baby hamsters & guinea pigs
  • anything with the appearance of luckiness is lucky.
if you have any questions about the luckiness of a particular object, or any questions in general, write a comment please.

fish

right now i am in the process of improving my new blog. this includes the fish gadget.
look to the right to see lily the orange fish, lola the green fish, and laurence the red fish. they are hungry sometimes, so you can feed them by left-clicking the mouse inside the tank. when they eat, it makes a ripple. they like your computer mouse, and they follow it everywhere.
for installing this fish gadget, click 'design.' then go to layout. click 'add a gadget' anywhere you want. then click 'more gadgets.' scroll down to 'fish,' click the +,  and design your tank of sweet little fish!

explanation

i'm happily looking at my new blog. but then i thought, "what a strange title. di's lucky button? i know what it means, but does anybody else know?"
well, i understand it, but this post will explain it to everyone else.
my friend se and i like to have "lucky things" and "unlucky things."
when someone is nervous, we offer them a lucky thing. we always avoid unlucky things. it's fun to do.
one classified lucky object is a button, as in the buttons with 1 hole and 2 holes and 4 holes (in order of luckiness, least to most). because my name is di, and i love lucky buttons (and i want my blog to be lucky), ta-da! di's lucky button!
i hope this explains my blog name.

p. s. my mom has a pretty unusual blog title, too. see here for the story.
